Britain in Bloom Success
Its feels like a long time since June when the gardens at The Willows Dementia Cafe were being judged for the RHS North West in Bloom It’s Your Neighbourhood Award.
All the hard work of our volunteers, staff at The Willows and our whole team has certainly paid off, with a Level 5 Outstanding Award 2023

Our volunteers Jane and Mick were quite rightly the ones to collect the award which is now on show at The Willows with their past certificates.
There is a lot of work to do at The Willows Dementia Hub, so its back down to Earth after our award last month.
Our fantastic volunteers Jane, Mick, Shamshad and a new volunteer called Claudia, worked very hard during this week’s session, harvesting vegetables and clearing the flower beds ready for the winter bedding plants.
Autumn Clear-up
We were very surprised by a visit from Angie from Tesco, who called by to donate some daffodils bulbs to Get Up and Grow.
We will need to plant them quickly to be in time for next Spring.
As if that wasn’t enough, we were treated to a breakfast from The Woodlands cafe as a thank you for our efforts.
Shamshad took care of the Red Cabbage and is already making pickle from it.

We know there’s still more to do here, we need to bring some of the plants indoors for winter, but we think the flower bed looks much better after a spruce-up.
