We have been very busy at The Willows Dementia Hub putting the finishing touches to the gardens.

Our lovely volunteers pulled out all the stops to make sure that everything was at its best, ahead of the Rochdale In Bloom judges visit.

The garden is very diverse and includes floral displays, food growing and our wildflower meadow. Hopefully we did enough to impress the judges.

The wildflower meadow is becoming greener every day, following the Spring Fair Event at The Willows Dementia Hub. The meadow had one close shave with a mower, but everything in the meadow is well and the plants are thriving.

Wildflower meadows are vital to help our bees survive and we are thrilled to be doing our bit. We can’t wait for the flowers to bring some colour to the meadow and some lovely pollen for the bees.

Residents and Comfort Day clients created seed bomb packs for the children at five local schools. The schoolchildren really enjoyed the seed bomb activity packs and even planted their own wildflower meadow in their school allotments.

Our Wildflower Meadow is the final point in our project which has been running at the Willows Dementia Hub for the past year.

Funded by Action Together, the project was designed to support participants to be more active both physically and within their local community.

The Residents and Comfort Day Clients at the Willows have shown time and time again how much they enjoy the activities we deliver. The smiles on their faces say it all. Together, we have planted food, cultivated house plants and succulents we managed to made an array of things for friends and family. Its hard to believe that it is already Easter and we will be rounding off the project in style with the planting of our wildflower meadow.

We have grown food, harvested and made chutney, we have also sent out 50 seed bomb packs to local schools to reach across the generations and involve the whole community.
